ART IN MOTION – BOTANICAL SILK SKIRT
A centerpiece of the collection, this reimagined silk organza skirt brings a fresh softness to one of our most beloved silhouettes. Four tonal panels: off-white, stone, pale pink, and macadamia flow seamlessly into one another, evoking the warmth of sunlit skin and sandy landscapes. Light as air, the sheer organza creates an ethereal, rippling movement with every step.
But what truly sets this skirt apart is the hand-finished plissé texture, achieved through an ancient tradition: after being carefully washed, the silk is twisted by hand and set to dry, forming a naturally crushed, diaphanous surface. This labor-intensive process gives each skirt a distinct, organic finish—no two are exactly alike. the crushing of silk fabric originated in the Indus Valley of South Asia and is similar to the Japanese Shibori technique. Originally a natural result of wear in humid climates, the crinkled texture of silk was later embraced by artisans in India and Persia, who refined it through hand-pleating and heat techniques—eventually elevating it to royal status during the Mughal era and inspiring its continued use in modern fashion design. Lined in smooth habotai silk and finished with a softly gathered waistband, this piece is effortless yet deeply artisanal. A luxury to melt into quietly.
