Behind the Scenes: From Concept to Collection

Creating Forest is a deeply collaborative process that blends global inspiration with meticulous New York craftsmanship. Founder, Nisha Inalsingh, works closely with design partner Pilar, refining each concept and iterating with manufacturers until prototypes reach perfection. Once the samples are finalized, the team moves into model casting, studio booking, set design, and styling, guided by an art director who ensures every detail aligns with the collection’s vision. 

Spotlight: Collaboration in Focus

For this shoot, we collaborated with internationally acclaimed photographer Sergio Kurhajec, whose signature ability to capture effortless elegance and timeless imagery brought Forest to life. Sergio blends classical fine art influences, especially modernist sculpture, with a deep understanding of form and light. At the photoshoot Sergio played with light and backgrounds until inspiration struck and he was able to capture beautiful moments as seen on our website.

For hair and makeup we had the pleasure of working with Cici Chang, New York City based seasoned makeup artist and hair stylist whose work bridges beauty and fashion with intentional artistry. Grounded in the OMAK philosophy (Observe Merits and Appreciate Kindness), she believes makeup is more than cosmetic, it’s a way to reveal and uplift an individual’s inherent beauty. She has a remarkable talent for enhancing each model’s natural beauty, tailoring hair and makeup to suit the mood of every shot, whether for creative editorials or clean website imagery. By working with, rather than against, natural features like curls, she highlights individuality without altering it, ensuring the model’s authentic beauty shines through.

Down to the Details

Nisha’s meticulous eye for detail and refined taste infuses every element with luxury, even the set design. For the fall theme, she curated real pressed autumn leaves from Europe and Pampas grass to create a rich, textured backdrop that perfectly complements the collection. After the photography session, images undergo careful editing and retouching, before the web developer integrates the collection seamlessly online. From initial sketches to the final digital launch, every step embodies Nish Niche’s commitment to thoughtful design, slow fashion, and the marriage of international perspective with local, artisanal craftsmanship.

For our shoot, accessories played an essential role in elevating each look. Stylist Karen Yabuta curated an array of earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and tights, offering endless options to complement the garments. Attention to detail, from the choice of shoes to the layering of clothing pieces, helped create striking ensembles that perfectly balanced edge with sophistication.
